Health and care services for refugees, asylum seekers and family unification
Generelt om tjenesten
Asylum seekers, refugees and reunited family members who live permanently or temporarily in the municipality are entitled to necessary health and care services on an equal footing with everyone else.
Special attention and follow-up shall be given to asylum seekers, refugees and reunited family members from areas where there is high risk for certain infectious diseases or, for example, who
- have been subjected to torture and other serious trauma
- do not have family/networks
- are minors who arrived alone to Norway
- are pregnant
- are single parents
- have been subjected to rape or other sexual violence
- have been subjected to genital mutilation or are at risk of it
- have (signs of) mental health problems
For persons under 18, it is not a requirement that the person has legal residence. For persons over 18 who have illegal residence, the law only grants the right to emergency health care.

The municipality shall ensure that refugees, asylum seekers and reunited family members are offered health and care services in primary and specialist health services.
If you feel that you are not receiving the necessary assistance, or if you are dissatisfied with the performance of the service, you can submit a complaint to the municipality or directly to the service provider. Explain why you are dissatisfied and what changes you would like.___
